The Knowledge Mile

The Knowledge Mile is an area in Amsterdam that runs from the Nieuwmarkt to the Amstelstation. The Wibautstraat and Weesperstraat are two streets at the centre of this area. Both are well known for the urban challenges they face, such as high traffic volumes, flooding and air pollution. The area is also one of the most knowledge-intensive regions in the Netherlands with over 60.000 students. The Knowledge Mile is an initiative of the Amsterdam Creative Industries Network and consists of Students, teachers and researchers of the HvA, HKA and Inholland together with local citizens, companies, organisations and national and international companies.

The Knowledge Mile community improves the quality of life in the area, by connecting the knowledge, creativity and technology of tomorrow, with today’s urban challenges. In doing so, the area around the Wibautstraat and Weesperstraat will become the smartest street in the Netherlands.

The community also contribute to the community’s goals by testing, developing and implementing their solutions for urban challenges in the area. 52 coalition partners are already part of the community. Learn more about the mile here
