HvA Venture Centre is now powered by IXA-HvA

For IXA -HvA and HvA Venture Centre 2024 started positive with their partnership in full swing. It is a milestone in the mission to support students from all AUAS faculties in developing their entrepreneurial competences.

The Venture Centre is dedicated to nurturing the entrepreneurial spirit within AUAS student community. Through different initiatives like the 10K Incubation Program, Intracurricular workshops, and various support services, the Venture Centre is fostering innovation and connecting the bright minds of today for a more sustainable tomorrow. Within this spirit, IXA is delighted to announce the collaborative partnership that signifies Venture Centre’s commitment to being inclusive for all AUAS faculties, just like IXA. This partnership supports a better position of the Venture Centre and will increase its reach and impact across all AUAS faculties, ensuring that its programmes and services meet the diverse needs of all students.

Max Nieuwdorp’s innovative research on gut microbes: a path to combat fatty liver disease

Internist Max Nieuwdorp, of Amsterdam UMC, discovered a few years ago that the microorganisms in the intestines of many overweight people produce alcohol to an increased extent. Breaking down excessive alcohol leads to fatty liver disease, which in turn poses a risk of serious conditions such as diabetes and cardiovascular disease. Nieuwdorp has now received an ERC Advanced Grant of 2.5 million euros for a major study into the underlying causes of this excessive alcohol production.
