The Innovation Award
The AmSIA is the Amsterdam competition for research-based ideas and impactful innovations. Participants have a chance to win one of the three prizes of each € 10,000 that will be awarded in the categories: Society, Health, and Environment & Climate. These categories are based on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
Entry will be possible again around the end of 2026.

For whom? All scientific disciplines welcome
You may compete for the Innovation Award as long as you are a researcher, PhD, staff member or student from one of the Amsterdam universities, universities of applied sciences, university medical centers and NWO research institutes. We welcomes ideas from all research disciplines and domains: from natural sciences and engineering, to the red and green life sciences, to the arts, humanities and social sciences.
Competition stages
Upon sending in your idea, IXA’s business and Impact developers will make first assessments and ranking. Somewhere between 25 and 30 ideas will enter the pre-finale, which will include the creation your personal pitch video. Nine ideas will be pitching live on stage at the final event.
Three categories
You can participate with your idea in either one of the three categories Society, Health, and Environment & Climate. They are based on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
Criteria
Entries for the Innovation Award will be judged by a highly qualified jury. Which will look into the degree of innovativeness, feasibility, and the fulfilment of a market-need.
