About the AmSIA
The Amsterdam Science & Innovation Award (AmSIA) is the Amsterdam competition for research based innovative ideas and impactful innovations.
Two awards types: Innovation & Impact
Each edition, the AmSIA celebrates Amsterdam researchers by two types of awards, the Innovation Award and the Impact Award. The Innovation Award is awarded to the best innovative research-based ideas that contribute to a better world. The Impact Award is an achievement award for Amsterdam researchers who have created meaningful impact to society with their research projects and innovations.
An inspiring diversity of topics and research area’s
The Amsterdam Science & Innovation award is an inclusive competition, open to idea’s from all research disciplines and topics. Since its launch, the AmSIA gave a stage to over 700 innovative, smart and applicable ideas. Many of these have resulted in concrete applications and some even formed the fundament for new businesses. Find inspiring examples amongst past winners and former editions of AmSIA.
Our community
The Amsterdam Science & Innovation Award is organized by IXA, the joint knowledge transfer office of Amsterdam UMC, Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (HvA), University of Amsterdam (UvA) and the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU). Partners of AmSIA are Netherlands Cancer Institute (NKI-AvL), InHolland and The Health & Innovation District (HID). The City of Amsterdam fully endorses this innovation award for the city of Amsterdam.
After winning we were approached by a lot of press. And investors also called us to contribute to our company, which had not even been founded at the time.
