ReadLer receives funding from Innovation Fund Noord-Holland to improve children's speech development

VU startup ReadLer has received a convertible loan of €350,000 from the Innovation Fund Noord-Holland for the development of Speaklee — a digital speech assistant for children with language and speech disorders. With this support, ReadLer takes an important step toward equal opportunities and better access to speech therapy.

Smart technology for better language development

Reading difficulties and speech disorders often have lasting effects on children’s learning and self-confidence. ReadLer’s target group consists of children with a (preliminary) diagnosis of Developmental Language Disorder (DLD). To reach them, the company collaborates with speech therapists, care institutions, and special education schools through a B2B2C model. The app is currently being tested as a web application and will soon be available in app stores.

Collaboration with Auris and focus on health insurance reimbursement

ReadLer works closely with Auris, an expertise organization for children with hearing, speech, and language problems. Together, they develop content and test the tool’s effectiveness in practice. A validation process is also underway with professionals to enable reimbursement through health insurers.

We’re incredibly grateful for the support from Innovation Fund Noord-Holland! It enables us to significantly accelerate the development of Speaklee, so we can support children with speech and language challenges as soon as possible.
