First edition of the Amsterdam UMC Valorisation Festival inspires and connects attendees
On September 18, the first Valorisation Festival of Amsterdam UMC took place. Staff and interested participants from all disciplines came together to explore how their knowledge and ideas can contribute to societal impact.
Inspiring speakers
The festival offered an inspiring program featuring talks by, among others, Teun Toebes, a healthcare innovator in elderly care, and Joreintje Mackenbach, a self-proclaimed “amateur valorisation guru”, along with many others. A common theme among the speakers was the potential of valorisation: the healthcare sector already holds a wealth of knowledge about necessary solutions, and it is in the journey toward realizing these solutions that we can learn from one another.
Valorisation market & workshops
At the valorisation market, colleagues presented their innovative projects and engaged in discussions about practical implementation. The atmosphere was open and encouraging; many participants shared that they gained new insights during the workshops and felt inspired to further develop their own ideas.
Valorisation Awards
The day concluded with the presentation of the Valorisation Award to TrianecT for their ultra-fast stroke diagnostics, performed while the patient is still in the ambulance. A shared second prize was awarded to Neurospector and the Women’s Health Consultation Hour.
The festival ended with a lively networking reception. Clearly, this first edition left people wanting more, and a subtle hint at a future edition did not go unnoticed.
