Success stories from 2025 for better public health

Discover twelve broad collaborations aimed at improving public health in a wider region. From football fans who need to get off the couch, to better primary care and the latest health apps… the new magazine from the Amsterdam Public Health (APH) research institute is live.

The 1,900 researchers at APH will focus even more on collaboration in the coming years. Today’s and tomorrow’s urgent health challenges require joint solutions. These solutions must not only be scientifically sound, but also truly work for the people they are intended for. That’s why the perspectives of involved organizations and individuals are essential. Two researchers share what this means:

“By involving different disciplines from the start, our interventions immediately aligned with practice. Keep your stakeholders well informed and celebrate milestones together.”
Stéphanie van der Burgt (Amsterdam UMC)

Bibian van der Voorn (Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam) developed an integrated local approach for children with overweight: Kind naar Gezonder Gewicht (KnGG). She explains:

“Keep one foot in practice. Only by truly engaging with the people you’re doing it for can you create research that makes an impact.”
Bibian van der Voorn
